About My Artwork

Jada Fire as Osun, smallI create ritualistic pop art that is heavily influenced by African belief systems, outsider expressionism and counterculture.

Maximal in style, with the physicality of low-relief assemblage, my predominantly two-dimensional, photo-based mixed-media paintings combine aspects of the contemporary and the arcane. Layered with photography, found materials, textiles and paint, they address broad spiritual concerns, in terms of earthly conditions converging with the metaphysical. My underlying theme dwells on how one passes through affliction to a place of self-possession.
